General Meeting
July 9, 2010
7:00 Hangar flying
7:30 General meeting
Speaker: Harry Fox & Quest Richlife
Subject: Mountain Soaring
Background: In February of 2009 Harry was
fortunate enough to participate in a 5-day “Mountain Soaring” course at Omarama, New Zealand, about 50 miles south
of Mount Cook, at the eastern edge of New Zealand’s Southern alps. He was very lucky to have two flight with Gavin
Wills over the glaciers and peaks of the Southern Alps to the edge of Milford Sound and back (each about 250 miles
round-trip), plus a couple of mountain wave flights as high as 21,000 feet including a visit to Mount Cook. He will
share his adventures with us — perhaps they might inspire you to visit New Zealand or even try some glider flying.
Location:
Girl Scouts of Santa Clara County Office,
1310 South Bascom Avenue
San Jose, CA
(Corner of Bacom and Stokes near Zorba's restaurant)
